Jammu, Apr 11: J&K Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) lambasted the LG Administration for terminating the services of NHM workers who were engaged during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic, demanding continuation of their services.
Led by Uday Chib, President J&K PYC, the Youth Congress activists assembled in front of GMC Hospital Jammu and joined the protest of NHM workers who were on protest for termination of their services.
Talking to reporters, Uday Chib said these NHM workers were engaged during the Covid pandemic at peak and they had put their lives at risk by treating the Covid patients. “The NHM workers were deputed to several government hospitals at the peak of the COVID-19 when no one wanted to leave their homes. Even the PM has also recognized the services of health workers by calling them as Frontline Warriors,” he said.
Condemning the decision of government for terminating 1600 NHM workers, Uday Chib criticized use and throw policy of LG led Administration saying that these paramedics deserve regularization of their services as government had engaged them in 2019 to work as frontline workers in the health sector and now government is playing with their careers which are highly uncalled for. He said at a time when new COVID variants were creating havoc across the country and the threat was looming large in J&K, their services should be regularized henceforth. He alleged that the government has terminated them in violation of High Court order.
Uday Chib still the corona cases are being reported in J and K and the government has terminated the services of NHM workers who worked day and night in treating Covid patients by putting their lives at risk.
Uday asked the government if Covid cases would suddenly rise in J and K as like the foreign countries then who will treat the Covid patients BJP State President Ravinder Raina or LG Manoj Sinha himself under whose Administration such decisions have been taken arbitrarily.
Sahil Singh Langeh, State General Secretary J&K PYC, who was earlier detained by police while staging protest in support of NHM workers few days ago, assured the protesting NHM workers that Youth Congress will continue its protest till their demands are met.
Among those who joined the protest include Deepanshu Bhatt JKPYC Spokesperson, Happy Randhawa DYC President Jammu Urban, Jhonny and others.
