Jammu, March 31: Principal Secretary Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC), Ashok Kumar Parmar today conducted a site visit to inspect the ongoing desilting of Ranbir canal.
The Principal Secretary was accompanied by Chief Engineer I&FC / RTIC Jammu, Hamesh Manchanda; Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Shyam Bir; General Manager National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL)s, SP Sangwan, Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle, Jammu, officials from National Highway Authority of India and concerned officers of the Department.
Chief Engineer, I&FC Jammu apprised the Principal Secretary that the Ranbir Canal is a major canal of Jammu district having an approximate length of 500 kilometers covering culturable command area (CCA) of 38600 Ha.
The Principal Secretary visited the critical spots along the Ranbir Canal and inspected the works of NHAI and NHIDCL that are being executed starting from Doomi to Bawa ka Talab, Mishriwala and Domana areas.
During his visit, Parmar directed the concerned Officers of NHAI and NHIDCL to complete the on-going works within three days so that the canal can be recharged at an earliest to provide irrigation facility to the farmers of Jammu district.
