Bandipora, March 24: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Thursday formally released the first ever “Survey Report of Transhumant Pastoralist” of District Bandipora at an impressive function held at DC Office, here.

The DC in his address hailed the efforts of SHD Bandipora for formulating a robust action plan for Tribal development and completion of tasks in record time.

Joint Director planning Imtiyaz Ahmad also appreciated the sincere efforts put in by DSHO Office Bandipora and associated team of Officers in bringing out a Survey report which shall serve as an excellent guide for researchers, experts, stakeholders, administrators and policy makers .

The Survey has been carried out by Sheep Husbandry Department Bandipora designated as Nodal agency for carrying out surveys, in coordination with other line departments under overall supervision of District Administration Bandipora.

It was given out that Dhok to Dhok Survey was carried out by 12 teams of Enumerators lead by Nodal Enumerators and Supervisors who traversed difficult mountainous terrains covering 12 major Bahaks and more than 60 minor Bahaks collecting information from 3092 households about migratory population, migratory routes adopted, family particulars, educational status, availability of human and veterinary healthcare facilities, livelihood initiatives and essential services.

The Survey report released shall provide a reliable database of Migratory Tribal population which will help to identify problems faced by the Tribal during migration period; provide multiple smart cards for a range of facilities.

Further the report also includes a comprehensive action plan for overall development of Migratory Tribals.

Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, DDC Member Ajas Dr Mustafa, DSHO Bandipora Dr Showkat Ahmad, Tribal Heads, Enumerators, Nodal Enumerators and Officers of Sheep Husbandry Department were present on the occasion.
