Chairman DDC B’gam lauds medical fraternity for achieving Ist TB free district status across India

Budgam, March 25: A daylong function was held today to observe World Tuberculosis (TB), Day at Sheikh ul Alam Hall in Budgam, where, Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Budgam Nazir Ahmad Khan felicitated health care workers for their tremendous work towards elimination of TB from the district.

The programme was organized by District Tuberculosis Society Budgam under the theme ‘Invest to End TB. Save Lives.’

Chairman DDC, Nazir Ahmad Khan, who was chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the role of the medical fraternity particularly staff of District Tuberculosis Office Budgam for its dedication and tireless efforts in eliminating the disease and making Budgam as first TB Free District  across India, last year.

He said that it is a big achievement for the entire district and urged the medical fraternity to work with the same dedication and zeal to ensure better patient care in Budgam and serve humanity in their best capacity.

The chairman DDC also inaugurated a 21-Day TB Mukt Bharat campaign on the occasion.

Among others, ADDC Budgam, ADC, WHO Consultant, SDM Beerwah, SDM Khansaheb, MS DH Budgam, BMOs, senior medicos, ASHA workers and others were also present on the occasion.

Chief Medical Officer Budgam, Dr Tajamul Hussain Khan who also addressed the gathering said that the milestone of TB Free District is a result of collective efforts by the health team.

He appreciated the health workers for working in difficult times and reaching patients to the door steps in ensuring their treatment.

“Our resilience of our health warriors is beyond appreciation who, despite facing hardships during the pandemic, ensured better health care to the general public,” said CMO.

On the occasion, District Tuberculosis Officer Budgam, Dr Adhfar Yaseen through a powerpoint presentation, deliberated upon the overall district profile of achievements, testing, treatment, distribution of medicine, NYP relief and other activities being carried out from year 2015 for elimination of the disease from the district.

During the programme, the gathering present there also took a pledge to make the Country TB free, while a short documentary on TB Elimination was also released.

Presenting a cultural programme, various renowned local artists also performed a nukkad natak, followed by a bike rally held for TB awareness in the district.
