Leh, March 15: Member, National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Government of India, Rinchen Lhamo, convened a meeting today to deliberate on various schemes/programmes/initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Minority Affairs for the welfare of minorities.
Joint Secretary, NCM, A Dhanalakshmi discussed and shared details of welfare schemes for minorities which includes, Nai Manzil, Nai Roshni, Naya Savera, PMJVK, Seeko aur Kamao, USTTAD, Pre-Matric/Post-Matric/PFMS scholarships, etc., undertaken by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, GoI for the welfare and upliftment of the minorities. She further added that the Commission will review and ensure equal implementation of all the applicable schemes in the UT of Ladakh in consultation with the local administration.
The Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson expressed various submissions related to the implementation of minority related schemes in the UT of Ladakh. Councillors, religious heads, and representatives from student communities also sought answers to their queries during the meeting.
In her concluding remarks, Member NCM, Rinchen Lhamo informed that a booklet having information of all the schemes concerning the welfare of the minorities by the Ministry of Minority Affairs is being translated into local languages so that every beneficiary across the nation can get aware of. She thanked all the officials for attending the meeting and further hoped that all Ladakhis would take maximum benefits from all these schemes in the future.
The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Councillors, Executive Councillors, and Councillors of LAHDC Leh/Kargil, officials of District Administration Leh/Kargil led by DC/CEO LAHDCs, Head of socio-religious organisations and the representatives from the student communities of Ladakh.
