DDC Doda discusses activities for month long ‘No Plastic ‘, ‘No Garbage’ Campaign

Doda, February 26: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vikas Sharma today chaired a meeting of the key officials to discuss the activities to be taken up across the district during the month long ’No Plastic’: ‘No Garbage’ campaign.

During the meeting, the DC held threadbare discussion with regard to the activities to be carried out during the month-long campaign in all the municipalities, besides chalked out activities to be started in all educational institutions across the district during the aforementioned campaign scheduled to be started from 01 March 2022.

In order to curb the use of banned polythene bags, the DC constituted a Joint Enforcement Committee of ADCs Police Officers, EOs, SDMs, PCB Officials, Metrology department, to  suggest the long-term alternative for the polythene for use by the consumers and shopkeepers.

The DC directed the GM DIC to encourage local entrepreneurs to set up manufacturing units for the same.

The DC also directed the police to set-up checking nakkas at entry points of the district to keep on check import of banned plastic.  He further directed to seek the information from their local sources about the vendors and sources which sell the polythene bags that are banned.

Regarding cleanliness drives, the DC directed the EOs to carry out ward wise activity in all the municipalities on a daily basis.

Besides, the EOs were further directed to submit the daily progress report to the DC office in this regard and issue a calendar for cleanliness drives to be conducted in each ward.

For giving  wide publicity to the campaign, the DC directed the DEPO to organise painting competitions and cleanliness drives in and around the school premises across the district on daily basis, He asked to hold drives under “MY School MY Pride” initiative and informed that the well  performing schools will be awarded.

Further the DC directed the DEPO to hold student rallies highlighting the program across the district.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Doda, SSP Doda, President MC Doda, President MC Bhaderwah, ADC Bhaderwah, SDM Thathri, EOs, DEPO doda, AO BDA, and other officials.
