Ramban, February 25: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today directed the enforcement agencies to ensure implementation of Bio-Medical Waste Management (BMWM) Rules, 2016 and Covid-19 BMW Guidelines besides orders of National Green Tribunal in the district.
He was chairing the meeting of District Level Monitoring Committee on Environment Conservation attended by ADC, Harbans Lal Sharma; CEO, MC, Ramban, Vishwajeet; CMO, Dr. Mohd. Fareed Bhat; CAHO, Dr. Bharat Bhushan; Divisional Officer, Pollution Control Board, Ramban, Sanjay Rathore; MS DH, Ramban, Dr. Hamid Zargar and Dr. Masood Zargar of AYUSH.
At the outset, the DO, PCB gave a PowerPoint presentation and briefed the meeting about guidelines and parameters of Bio-medical Waste Management Rules, Covid-19 BMW and NGT.
After discussing the issues pertaining to management of Bio-medical waste, the DC directed CMO to ensure establishment of Effluent treatment plants of required capacity in all medical institutions having more than 10 bedded capacities in the district.
The DC directed the CMO, MS, District Hospital, Ramban and BMOs to obtain Authorization under Bio-medical Waste Management Rules for all Government and private medical establishments functional in their jurisdictions besides taking the consent under Air and Water Act for Health institutions having more than 10 bedded capacities.
The DC also directed the CAHO and Sheep Husbandry Department to follow all the guidelines about Bio-medical Waste Management Rules and other directions issued by the NGT in their centres.
Besides reviewing the status of drives conducted by the enforcement agencies against use of Polythene, the DC directed the CEO MC Ramban, Divisional Officer, PCB and EO, MC Batote and Banihal to intensify the drive against Garbage, Debris and use of Plastic ,to make district neat and clean by implementing directions issued by the Chief Secretary in a separate meeting.
