Ramban, February 24: District Administration Ramban has launched a massive restoration operation to restore road and essential services and supplies affected due to snow and incessant rainfall across the district during the past two days.
Site Engineer, National Highway Authority of India, Sahil Upal informed that vehicular traffic has been restored on Jammu – Srinagar National Highway since morning which was affected between Ramban and Banihal. He said adequate men and machinery have been deployed to clear the fresh landslides.
The Executive Engineer JPDCL, Ramban informed that out of 45, 11 KV feeders under the jurisdiction of Electric Division Batote (JPDCL), 30 feeders are running smoothly as per schedule. However, the power supply to 15, 11 KV feeders in Banihal, Ramsoo and Ukhral Tehsils are affected due to non-availability of 132 KV power from Grid Station Tethar since yesterday and restoration work of the same is in progress on war footing.
As reported by the concerned BRO officer, the road between Ramban and Gool has been restored for vehicular traffic today at 9 AM which was closed due to landslides and mudslides yesterday at various places on Gool road.
The Executive Engineer PMGSY informed that 10 out of 23 blocked roads have been restored in PMGSY Division Ramban and work is in progress on 5 other roads.
It was further informed that a total of 20 roads of PWD Department are blocked and restoration work on 13 roads has been started and those on rest 7 would also be taken up soon.
The Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Department informed that water supply scheme of Ramban town was affected due to heavy rainfall and restoration work has been taken. He further said that the water supply schemes of hilly areas are also being maintained by the Department.
