Jammu, February 22: Government College of Education Jammu today organized a One-Day Workshop on “Statistical Package for the Social Sciences” in which representatives of around 15 Colleges participated.

The workshop was conducted by Research Hub in Education and Teacher Education of the Government College of Education under the patronage of Principal Dr Kulvinder Kour.

Dr Rohini Chib, alumni of the College was the chief guest on the occasion.

Dr Sushma Bala, Coordinator Research Hub was the Organizer while as Co-Coordinator Dr Shubhra Jamwal was the Organizing Secretary.

Dr Hardeep Chahal of Department of Commerce, University of Jammu was the Resource Person. She enlightened the participants about the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences and its use in various kind of researches for complex statistical data analysis.

She further said that SPSS is a combined package of software which is a set of statistical package for social science research and the primary application of this program is to explore the technical data which have relevance with social science.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kulvinder Kour said that SPSS can perform different statistical analysis by using various tools in the activities of social science research. “The process of data analysis is a very critical and time consuming process but this can be managed easily with the help of several techniques of SPSS”, she added.

She said that the Government College of Education is more than keen to extend all possible help to the colleges in conduct of research by using this software.

The workshop was also attended by Research Development Advisory Committee members- Dr Neelam Dhar, Prof Satish K Sharma, Prof Koushal Kumar Mangotra, Dr Jyoti Parihar, Dr Rajinder Kour and Dr Anuradha Seth.
