Jammu, February 12: Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mandeep Kaur today visited SKUAST Jammu and reviewed progress of ongoing training program for MGNREGA beneficiaries under the project Unnati here.
While interacting with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. JP Singh during the visit, the Commissioner Secretary emphasised that the benefits of this centrally sponsored project should percolate to the people associated with NREGA and their capacity will be enhanced. She said that the department is committed to work in collaboration with the university for development of this province.
During the visit, Mandeep Kaur also reviewed the organic farming, mushroom farming and other activities of university and appreciated them for their efforts of developing agriculture sector.
On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor assured the Commissioner Secretary that the university would extend all possible support for the success of this project.
Pertinently, this project is run by the Ministry of Rural Development to provide training to those MGNREGA workers who have done 100 days work during the last financial year.
