Jammu, February 07: Aiming to send out a strong message to the citizens to contribute towards making the city clean and to provide better amenities to people, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) aesthetically transformed a Garbage Vulnerable Spot here at Talab Tillo with facilities like floor tiles, chairs and wall paintings. The spot has been developed after converting a dumping site with objective to eliminate landfills from the city and ensure proper recycling of garbage.

CEO JSCL, Avny Lavasa accompanied by Technical Officer to CEO, Navneet Mann, Additional CEO, JSCL, Hitesh Gupta, Executive Engineer, Division III, JMC and other senior officials of JSCL  visited the place.

Speaking on the occasion, Avny Lavasa said that the JSCL is committed to improve the urban life in the city of temples under the Smart City Mission programme initiated by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoUHA).“This point was developed after converting a dumping site (Garbage Vulnerable Point) at Talab Tillo to promote cleanliness and hygiene,” she said. She informed that people have been throwing garbage at this particular point and this initiative will encourage people to use waste collection service of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC).

She urged citizens to pay user charges to JMC for waste collection. Local residents hailed the initiative and apprised CEO, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) about the other problems being faced by them. She gave patience to the problems and assured measures to mitigate the problems at the earliest.
