Govt Girls School Samba named after Vir Chakra Captain Dharub Singh

Samba, December 16: District Administration Samba, under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, today named Government Girls Model Higher Secondary School Samba after Honorary Captain Dharub Singh, a Veer Chakra Awardee.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to name identified Government schools, colleges and public infrastructure including roads and buildings after Indian Army soldiers, CRPF and police personnel who laid their lives while performing their duty for the nation.

The school has been named as Captain Dharub Singh memorial Government Girls High Secondary School Samba.

Honorary Captain Dharub Singh was born in 25 Sept 1925 in Mandi Sangwali of Samba. He rendered excellent services throughout his career and exceptional services during various operations in Jammu and Kashmir. He was awarded Veer Chakra in 1947-48 and retired from active services on 1964.

The school was inaugurated by District Development Council Chairman Keshav Dutt Sharma and family members of the Captain.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba Suram Chand Sharma, Assistant commissioner Revenue Samba besides others officers and locals were also present.
