DDC Kathua releases Evaluation Study on State Marriage Assistance Scheme

Kathua, December 09: District Development Commissioner Kathua  Rahul Yadav today released an Evaluation study conducted by District Statistics & Evaluation Office, Kathua on State Marriage Assistance Scheme, (SMAS) being implemented by the Social welfare Department here at DC Office Complex .

District Statistics & Evaluation officer (DSEO) Ranjeet Thakur, Chief Planning Officer,  Uttam Singh and other staff members of DSEO Office were present at the release Ceremony.

The study was conducted by the District Level Evaluation Committee (DLEC) in which Two blocks namely Hiranagar & Billawar of District, Kathua were selected and 49 beneficiaries, 10 non-beneficiaries and 10 Knowledgeable persons were selected randomly for collecting primary data by conducting door to door survey by the officials of DSEO Office, Kathua.

While releasing the study, the District Development Commissioner, Kathua appreciated the efforts of the staff members of DSEO Office Kathua who were involved in conducting and finalizing the said study.  He highlighted the findings of the study and pointed out the suggestions/recommendations for consideration of the Social Welfare Department for better implementation of the scheme which includes regular Survey of eligible beneficiaries so that the maximum no. of poor girls can get benefit under the scheme, mass awareness camps with the help of concerned Anganwadi workers should be organised at village level to aware general public about the scheme.

Moreover, the study suggested enhancing the amount of assistance from time to time keeping in view the prevailing prices of goods & services at that time.

The DDC also informed that the detailed study report will be made available on Official website of Administration (https://kathua.nic.in) as well as on Official Website of DSEO, Kathua (dseokathua.in).
