Shopian, December 04: On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a function was organised by Chief Education Officer (CEO) Shopian at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Shopian.
The function was intended for an inclusive support to the person with disability. On the occasion CEO Mohd Mushtaq , Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shahbaz Boda and other officers were present.
Addressing the gathering, the CEO stressed on the inclusiveness of specially abled persons. He said it is important to bring them at par with the normal people for boosting their morale.
He highlighted the facilities provided to the children with special needs in the schools, like time to time medical checkup, providing of aids and appliances, Educational kits, special counseling, escort allowance, Braille books.
The CEO informed that there are more than 700 specially abled students enrolled in various schools across Shopian and the departments is making tireless efforts to provide them an overall inclusive educational atmosphere. He said some 500 General teachers have been trained for providing the education to the specially abled children as per their needs.
The ACR Shopian stressed on overall personality development of specially abled persons. He said they should be accepted in society like normal beings.
The function concluded by a rally from Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Shopian to Main Market, Shopian.
