Baramulla, December 02: In connection with Armed Forces Flag Day to be commemorated on 7th December, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar today chaired a meeting of District Level Armed Forces Flag Day Committee (DLAFC), at Dak Bunglow Baramulla .
At the outset, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer Baramulla, Mudasir Choudhary apprised the Chairperson and other members of the committee regarding commemoration of the day.
The ZSWO said celebrating Flag Day has become tradition to honour the martyrs of defence forces, soldiers and this day reminds us of the environment in contributing for the welfare of their affected families by donation.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day to remind all of us to express gratitude towards our soldiers, sailors and airmen of India. He said the day gains more significance as it is the responsibility of the civilian population to take care of the families and dependents of the armed forces personnel who fight for the country.
The DC stressed upon the committee members to increase the contribution through various means for Ex-Servicemen. He assured the Zila Sanik Officer that all possible support will be provided from the District Administration.
The DC directed the officials of Zila Sainik Welfare Department Baramulla that a voluntary contribution box shall be set up in the DC Office as well as at various other places in order to get necessary collection by the employees and civilian population.
He also directed for providing new office accommodation to Zila Sainik Welfare Office Baramulla on the eve of Armed Force Flag day.
General Manager DIC, Mohd Assadullah Rather, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Accounts Officer DC Office, Chief Medical Officer and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
