Srinagar, November 24: Director General, Jammu and Kashmir Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development, Saurabh Bhagat, today chaired the valedictory function of three-day training course on “Mainstreaming Disaster Management”.
The training course was coordinated by Dr. G M Dar, Associate Professor.
While speaking on the occasion, Saurabh Bhagat highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness. He said that in a country like India where disasters like floods, earthquakes, cyclones, landslides and road accidents are a common occurrence, remaining prepared to mitigate the effects of disasters once they strike is very important. Since disaster preparedness is a multi-sectoral approach, it is important to sensitize the relevant departments of the Union Government and state/UT governments in time. It was in this backdrop, that the present Training Course on “Mainstreaming Disaster Management” was organised by J&K IMPARD for Education department.
Director General informed the participants that such disaster sensitization programmes would be organised by J&K IMPARD for other departments also.
He said that J&K IMPARD intends to conduct training for Aapda Mitra, the volunteers who respond to disasters at short notice and are the first to reach a disaster hit place.
Director General also informed the participants that J&K IMPARD would also continue to organise training course on other subjects as well such as Civil Services Regulation; General Financial Rules(GFR)-2017; Government e-Marketplace (GeM); Employees’ Conduct Rules; Classification, Control, & Appeal Rules; Computer Basics; e-Office & e-Procurement; and demography and geography of the UT of J&K.
