Samba, November 23: The 15 day training programme on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) for input dealers concluded today here at KVK Samba of SKUAST-Jammu.
The programme concluded under the guidance and leadership of Professor. J.P.Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and the aegis of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-J.
The Chief Guest of the programme, Sanjay Verma, Chief Agriculture Officer, Samba discussed in detail different agricultural schemes for farmers. He exhorted the youth to come forward and take over the mantle of the agriculture in the district. He appreciated the role of KVK Samba for conducting this course, which will ensure that input dealers have the knowledge regarding the various types of fertilizers and their recommended dose in various crops.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vinod Gupta, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK, Samba briefed that Agri-input dealers in the country are a prime source of farm information to the farming community, besides the supply of inputs and credit. He also stressed on Post Production Agriculture, Processing, Value addition, marketing and branding of the produce of the farmer for making the agriculture more profitable. He also advised KVK Samba to encourage farmers to promote one village Eco tourism in their respective. Healso stressed the need for adoption of new techniques to increase the agriculture production and doubling of farmer income, as for small and marginal farmers.
The programme was initiated by Dr. Abhay Kumar Sinha. Scientist, KVK, Samba who welcomed the guests and the participants. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Shalini Khajuria. She gave a brief description and outline of the course and elaborated upon the objective of conducting this certificate course.
At the end of the programme, vote of thanks was extended by Dr.Saurav Gupta, Scientist Entomology. The programme was attended by Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharmaand Dr. AmitMahajan.
