Bandipora, November 22: The District Administration Bandipora on Monday organised a day long career counseling workshop for tribal students as part of the ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Saptah’ celebrations.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad inaugurated the workshop while Member District Development Council Dr Gh Mustafa, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Altaf Hossain Mosvi; Project Manager DIC Mehraj Wani and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

During the workshop, achievers from different fields of life shared their experience and knowledge about cracking respective examinations.

On the occasion, the DC shared his experience and expertise with the civil services aspirants. He said the aim of organizing this workshop was to create awareness about various fields in which students and youth can make their career.

While interacting with the students/aspirants, he said that nothing is impossible to achieve if one has firm dedication towards his goal. He said that economic status does not matter in achieving something great, however hard-work and dedication is all it needs.  He endured the support of administration for the hardworking and dedicated students

Dr Owais urged tribal students to avail the benefit of various schemes being offered by the government to uplift their socio-economic status. He said emphasis is being laid on empowering Tribal communities so that they can live a life of self respect and dignity.

He asked the tribal students to take inspiration and follow the path of their tribal ancestors who made contributions, sacrifices and served the tribal society, imbibing the values of their culture and rich heritage with a true heart.

The DC elaborated various career opportunities besides highlighting the problems being faced by tribal students. He assured regular conduct of such sessions in future. He also stressed on the students to explore and tap the opportunities in energizing sectors like cyber, application development, robotics etc that are in demand in the modern IT world market.

On the occasion Mehraj Wani—who qualified JKAS at a very young age deliberated on the topic, “civil services as career option” while DySP Zahid Samoon explained some important tips for cracking civil services exams.

Block Development Officer Shoib Noor gave a motivational lecture and stressed on setting goals and working beyond the excuses of problems.

Dr Andleeb Qadri deliberated on the topic, “Career Options in Health Sector” and explained MBBS, BDS, BVSc, Diploma courses including radiology , lab technicians etc.

Advocate Hafeez Lone, Law Officer Spoke on career options in law while Aabida Akthar spoke on career opportunities in sports sector. Programme coordinator Altaf Ahmad Mir presented a Vote of Thanks and summed up the entire workshop at the end.

The DC also released a book on the occasion titled “Unexplored Kashmir ” authored by a tribal girl Shabnum Bashir. The book explores the tourist destinations of Bandipora.
