Shopian, November 12: A District Level Executive Committee (DLEC) meeting was today held here under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya with the objective of employment generation for rural youth to establish village level soil testing projects.
The DDC directed the concerned department for establishing the lab in Zainapora in the first instance as the Zainapora block is far away from the existing locations of the department of agriculture and KVK Balapora.
He also directed for informing the general public who are willing to establish soil testing laboratories in private sector as per rules and conditions of the scheme.
The meeting was informed that the department has received physical allocation for establishment of one number of testing lab at village level by local entrepreneurs with the financial assistance of Rs.3.75 lakhs under Soil Health Mission (SHM). SHM is one of the most important interventions under NMSA.
SHM aims at promoting location as well as crop specific sustainable soil health management and judicious application of fertilizer and improves timeline in analysis of soil sample to minimize delay and maximize convenience to the farmers.
