Kupwara, November 06: The District Administration Kupwara today organised a District level workshop cum awareness camp under the title ‘Control on Domestic Violence and Women Empowerment’ at Town Hall Kupwara.

The workshop was chaired by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kupwara, Altaf Ahmad Bhat.

Addressing the function, the ADDC said that One Stop Centre is a great initiative of the Government in which issues of domestic violence against women are addressed under a single roof. He urged the participants especially PRIs to replicate the awareness acquired in their respective areas so that the women affected with different kinds of violence get to know about the One Stop Centre for redressal of their issues.

ACP Kupwara, Shabir Ahmad also spoke and said that the days have gone when women used to be confined within the boundaries of their house, adding that women have proved themselves in different fields of life including Panchayat Raj system which gives them opportunity to serve their people.

Various speakers and officers spoke on the occasion and provided thorough awareness to the participants about the OSC and mechanism for redressal of issues of the women.

The speakers also provided information about 181 Women Helpline and 1098 Child Helpline which provides instant assistance to the women facing domestic violence or any kind of harassment.

Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, Shabir Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer, Women BDC Chairpersons, besides, female PRIs, members of different NGOs and other concerned attended the programme.
