New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) The union government has withdrawn the travel guidelines for the UK nationals issued in reciprocation against the latter’s discriminatory restrictions put on Indians visiting that country.
The Centre has lifted the mandatory 10-day quarantine for passengers coming from the UK and reinstated the travel advisory.
“Revised guidelines for UK nationals arriving in India issued on October 1, 2021, stand withdrawn, and earlier guidelines on international arrival dated February 17, 2021, shall be applicable for those arriving in India from the UK,” the Union Health Ministry said.
In September, the UK had made mandatory for the Indians to undergo a 10-day quarantine and RT-PCR test even for fully vaccinated Indians travelling to the UK.
India had retaliated the UK’s move by imposing additional checks for the UK nationals arriving the country on October 1 which included a mandatory 10-day quarantine period post arrival in the country.
However, the UK later withdrew mandatory quarantine period for Indians arriving there and announced that there would be no quarantine required for fully vaccinated Indian travellers starting October 11.
India had appreciated the withdrawal and said to issue a fresh guidelines for foreign nationals arriving from the UK.
