Kupwara: (Press Release) Army in association with Goonj Foundation distributed household essentials to 103 poor families of Nunwani and Gurdaji in Kalaroos as a reward to their efforts towards community work in the area.
Heavy rain in last month have caused severe damge to irrigational nalas & boundary walls around the multiple houses. On being made aware about the issue during regular interaction with Awam, Army along with Goonj Foundation called upon locals to undertake community works to repair all irrigational nalas so as to ensure uninterrupted water supply to maze fields.
The call was received very well by locals and total of 103 familes worked for 10 days and repaired all irrigational nalas and boundary walls around majority of houses.
As a reward to their hardwork and to encourage more such intiatives in the area all families were distributed with household essentials and ration packets. Each packet contained : Flour -10 Kg, Refined Oil -01 Kg, Salt – 01 Kg, Pulses – 01 Kg, Condiments -500 Gm, Soaps -08, Umbrella -01, Plastic Poly Cover – 01
All panchayat members and locals were very appreciative of such unique efforts and every one was of opinion that efforts like this will certainly motivates villagers to be self-dependent in resolving most of the local problems of the village.
