Srinagar, Jul 17: Amid soaring temperature across the Valley, the weatherman here has warned of flash floods in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of fresh wet spell, which is expected to start from July 19.
A weather warning issued by the Meteorological department, a copy of which lies with the news agency— reads that lower and middle level tropospheric winds from north Arabian sea is most likely to interact with Easterly Winds (from Bay of Bengal) from 19 to 21 July.
It reads that the system is most likely to cause widespread heavy to very heavy rain, thunder with lightning at most places of Jammu mainly in Pirpanjal Range and plains of Jammu division from 19th to 21 and Moderate to heavy rain, thunder with lightning in many places of Kashmir division during the said period.
“Probable impacts due to fresh wet spell include moderate to high risk of flash flood in J&K, temporary disruption of surface traffic mainly on Jammu-Srinagar, Srinagar-Leh,
Doda-Kishtawar, Mughal Road from 19th to 21″ July 2021, landslides and shooting stones at vulnerable places, water logging and minor floods over low lying areas and suspension of agricultural and horticultural operations during above period,” it added—(KNO)
