Leh, April 14: A delegation comprising of Sarpanch and Panch of Zanskar sub-division called on Hon’ble LG RK Mathur and expressed gratitude for the exposure tour to Uttarakhand organized by UT Administration in the month of March and stated that the educational trip has been immensely beneficial.

Further, the delegation apprised LG Mathur of the inconveniences faced by the people of the three sub blocks – Cha, Zanskar and Karsha – in the absence of designated Block Development Officers for each and therefore requested Hon’ble LG for filling up the BDO posts at Karsha and Lungnak.

For better functioning of the Zila Parishad, the delegation put forth requests for elected Zila Parishad as a separate entity thus enabling the Panchayats to work more efficiently and effectively. In this regard, they also requested for better infrastructural facilities for Panchayat Ghars equipped with basic facilities.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Zanskar for the up-gradation of High School Phey to Higher Secondary School, the delegation requested LG Mathur to address the issue of shortage of staff both at the High School as well as Govt. Degree College Zanskar.
Later, founder Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena informed LG Mathur about the functioning of the Centre and apprised him about their project – Buddha Park for World Peace – the foundation stone of which was laid by the Hon’ble President of India during his visit in 2017.
Venerable Sanghasena also informed LG Mathur that MIMC has requested the Hon’ble Prime Minister to inaugurate the International Yoga Day 2021 in Ladakh, post its cancellation last year and sought the Hon’ble LG’s support.
