Srinagar, Mar 25 : In a bid to prevent the bank robbery, Sopore police on Thursday held an emergency meeting with all Zonal Heads, Bank Managers of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Grameen Bank, Canara Bank and State Bank of India (SBI) Bank in the Conference Hall at PC Sopore.
The meeting was held in wake of the recent bank robbery in Grameen Bank on March 12 when the officials of the Bank at Ogmuna claimed that some masked pistol-borne men looted a cash amount of over Rs two lakh from the branch when most of the staff was out to offer congregational Friday prayers.
To avoid recurrence of such incidents, Police held an emergency meeting with all Zonal Heads and Bank Managers of various banks in the Conference Hall at PC Sopore.
Police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency— the meeting was chaired by Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore Sudhanshu Verma besides, SDPO Sopore and SDPO Rafiabad were also present.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion were held with regard to the security of Bank branches and all the Bank Managers were advised to install CCTV cameras and also devise a proper security plan to ensure that each bank branch should have proper security round-the-clock, so that no such incident shall take place in future.
All the participants have given assurance that the security of all Bank Branches shall be taken on priority and no loophole shall be left in it, spokesman said, adding that the chairing officer exhorted all the participants to have good liaison with the concerned Police Stations, units and seek help from the nearest Police establishments in case of any emergency.
