Leh, March 23: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur was called upon by various delegations at Raj Niwas today.
Tsewang Norbu, Nambardar along with Sarpanch Chemday village in a representation made a request to the Lt. Governor to for construction of public gathering-cum-yoga centre in Chemday village, Leh.
A delegation of Live to Love International comprising Smridhi Marwah, Comm. & Advocacy Lead; Urbi Chatterjee, Program and Comm. Officer and Portia B. Conrad, Director External Affairs & Public Policy called upon the Lt. Governor to introduce their organisation and apprise of their activities in Ladakh based on sustainable programs to address issues and needs at a community level. They expressed their desire to work in collaboration with the government on developmental issues like health, skill development, entrepreneurship, rescue and relief activities, etc.
Neha Upadhaya, Founder Vishwadeep Trust, apprised the Lt. Governor of their vision to empower communities through sustainable organic, ecological agriculture-based activities and providing renewable energy access to the rural population. She informed about their projects under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change, NMHS and achievements in attaining reverse migration and livelihood and income enhancement in the villages of Takmachik, Urbis and Domkhar. She made a request to the LG to consider assisting the Trust with financial grant and land allotment to set up a training hall in Leh and a common facility centre in Nee for cluster development of local farmers and artisans in Ladakh. Ms Neha also requested the Lt. Governor to consider certifying Takmachik as an organic village.
The LG agreed to look into the issues discussed for due consideration.
