Jammu, March 22: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh today expressed serious concern over deplorable condition of Jammu Srinagar National Highway in Ramban District.

In a statement to the press, the Apni Party organized a meeting with the Party leaders from Ramban. In this meeting, the party leaders discussed various issues and highlighted their concern over the condition of highway from Banihal to Ramban.

The local leaders of Apni Party from Ramban appraised the Provincial President Jammu Manjit Sigh that the passengers have to suffer badly due to worse condition of road from Banihal to Ramban.

“The construction companies working on the widening work of the highway have started illegal earth cutting which has caused damage to the homes,” appraised Apni Party leaders from Ramban during the meeting.

They also said that the play ground is being utilized by the construction companies engaged in highway widening work.

“The administration should identify an alternative play ground for the youth of Banihal. The youth are becoming drug addicted in Ramban District and authorities should make sure they get an alternative playground,” the AP leader informed senior leaders during a meeting at Gandhi Nagar Office.

They demanded over all development of Ramban district and especially in Banihal, Gool, Sangaldhan and other areas. The AP leaders from Ramban also highlighted their woes over unscheduled power cuts and poor drinking water facilities.

After hearing the leaders, Manjit Singh assured them that their demands would be projected before authorities concerned for their early redressal.

The Provincial President was concerned over the deplorable condition of highway and its repeated closing down.

“The passengers have to remain stranded for days when the highway closes because of landslides due to unplanned widening work on the highway. The drivers, conductors and commuters have to face problem when the highway remains closed,” said Manjit Singh.

He held accountable the construction companies for posing threat to the lives of the commuters and locals. “Many houses have become unsafe because of ongoing work,” said Manjit Singh after listening to the leaders and appealed Govt to fix responsibility with regard to damage to the houses and loss of lives on highway.

He said that the local administration and construction companies have no accountability and they do not listen to the issues of people. Meanwhile, he demanded employment to local youth in the works taken by the construction companies.

The meeting was attended by Danish Iqbal, Gulzar Shaan, Mohammed Rafiq, Farooq Khayal, Om Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Tahir Choudhary, Gower Rasheed, Rahim Shaan and others.
