First residential winter camp and community mobilization programme concluded in Terchey village

Leh, Feb 04, 2021: A 45 days residential winter camp for students of Nubra valley at Terchey village concluded yesterday. Dy. Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk was the chief guest and Councillor Hunder, Kunzang Lotus along with Everester Rigzin Dolker were the guest of honour on the occasion.

Other guests present on the occasion were I/C SDM Nubra, Mohd. Yusuf, ZEO Nubra, Block Agriculture Officer, Nambardars and Sarpanches of Diskit to Sham belt of Nubra valley.

The camp was initiated voluntarily by Ven. Jigmat Namgyal with the blessings and guidance of H.E Choss-Sam Rinpoche. The residential camp was conducted following all the SOP guidelines of COVID 19.

 

The camp had spoken English classes, storytelling sessions, letter writing, basics of Bhoti grammar, introspection programme, sports activities, meditation, spiritual practices, confidence-building activities such as anchoring, singing, dancing and acting classes.

Addressing the gathering, Dy. Chairman Angchuk lauded the performances presented by the students during the function. He congratulated the organizers headed by Ven. Jigmat Namgyal in coming up with such comprehensive camps exploring all the fields. He stressed upon streamlining education system in Leh district by raising the teacher-student ratio and also welcomed constructive feedbacks to the council in improving the education system in Leh.

 

Councillor Hunder, Kunzang Lotos requested Dy. Chairman to propose a residential hostel in the sham belt of Nubra valley and also requested for sanctioning funds for the completion of Terchey school building. Sufficient placement of teaching staffs in all the schools of sham belt and conducting Khelo India games in Nubra valley was also highlighted by the Councillor.

 

Camp organizer, Venerable Jigmat Namgyal expressed his gratitude to the villagers and teachers for their constant support throughout the camp. He highly appreciated the efforts of Mr Tashi Targyas for teaching traditional folk song and dance and assured to organize more camps with the support of villagers soon.
