CEC reviews developmental activities of Poyen Constituency

KARGIL FEBRUARY 03, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan convened a meeting to review the status of developmental activities of Poyen constituency during the financial year 2020-2021 under Capex Budget, SDP and other allied schemes here on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by the Executive Councilor for Tourism Er Phunsok Tashi, Councilor Poyen Constituency Muhammad Amin, Ward Member Municipal Committee Poyen Muhammad Shabir, Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Salim Wazir, Executive Engineers of R&B, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mechanical Division, PHE Division besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, officers concerned briefed the CEC about the status of different developmental works related to Poyen constituency undertaken by different departments.

Regarding the schemes related to Roads and Buildings, the CEC was briefed that construction of different link roads, footpaths and bridges are under process at different villages of the constituency while tendering of Mongbor-Akchamal Link Road and Handurman-Mal Road has been completed. Moreover, regarding Zumbithang-Grongjuk Bridge in Poyen, the compensation is under process and soon the work will be completed.

It was also given out that regarding the progress of work on the construction of Khuddam Bagh-Shilikchey Link Road under Capex Budget, tendering and allotment has been completed, adding many other works are also under process such as construction of Shilikchey Bye Pass Foot Bridge, Kharul-Umachiktang Bridge, and Farka Shilikchey Model School among others.

The CEC directed the concerned departments to take necessary measures for the black topping of Satellite Road.

As regards to the works under the Irrigation and Flood Control sector , the meeting was informed that different developmental activities were initiated in 2020-2021, such as construction and remodeling of different irrigation khuls. It was further informed that the tendering process of  lift irrigation works at Mongbor-Singesna-Farma, Pashkum-Poyen and Byathang have been completed while the construction of dam at Handurman has been commissioned at the cost of 1.30 crores, the tendering of which has already been completed.

The officers concerned informed the CEC that under REW, many projects have gone through the process of tendering such as construction of footpath at Byathang-Shilikchey, link road at Akchamal, Handurman-Mal Link Road and link road at Mangmor.

Regarding the works related to PHE Department, the CEC was informed that lift irrigation scheme for Mangbore-Akchamal has been completed while the work on establishment of lift irrigation schemeRong-Akchamal and Poyen has also been allotted. The CEC was further briefed that 3 hand pumps with submersible plant have been allotted at Hundarman and bore well has been allotted at Shilikcay Beathang.

Meanwhile, Councilor Poyen Muhammad Amin and Ward Member Poyen Muhammad Shabir raised the issue of connecting Poyen with water supply pipes to resolve the crisis of drinking water.

The Councilor Poyen said that the distribution of water supply pipes to Poyen area is very marginal and in this regard CEC suggested doing a survey and taking the necessary decision.

Regarding the works undertaken by Municipal Committee Kargil, the CEC was informed that different works have been allotted such as construction of footpath on Poyen Bridge, Tourism Heritage Village at Handurman Broq and Cycling Track from Qatilgah to Chubar-Akchamal

The CEC while showing satisfaction over the progress of work undergoing in the constituency stressed that the departments should carry out their assignments with sheer commitment and dedication. He directed the officers to bring more steadiness and impact in their works and complete the pending developmental works well within the stipulated timelines.
