Leh, Jan 23: An awareness campaign on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was conducted by Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) Leh and Kharu in collaboration with Mahila Shakti Kendra Leh, at Chuchot Gongma today. A total of 50 adolescent girls participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Kharu, Zareena Bano highlighted gender-based discrimination issues faced by a girl child.
Medical Officer, ICDS, Dr Padma Angmo spoke about menstrual hygiene and its importance. Mahila Shakti Kendra, District Coordinator, Nilza Angmo pointed out myths and taboos on menstruation. Hygiene kits were distributed among the participants at the end of the awareness campaign.
