Bandipora, Nov 19 : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range Vijay Kumar Thursday said that four slain militants killed in an encounter at Ban Toll Plaza near Nagrota on Srinagar-Jammu highway had infiltrated from Samba sector of Jammu and were on way to South Kashmir to disrupt upcoming District Development Council (DDC) polls.

Speaking to reporters at north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on the sidelines of a function at Deputy Commissioner’s office, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that the slain militants had sneaked in from Samba sector of Jammu and were on way to South Kashmir. “Jammu police had already received inputs that a group may infiltrate to disrupt DDC Polls. The nature of recovery that includes 11 AK-47 riffles suggests that they were on a mission to disrupt DDC polls by setting base in South Kashmir,” he said. Four militants were killed in an early morning encounter at Ban Toll Plaza near Nagrota after joint teams of police, CRPF and army stopped a truck. The driver of the truck, however, managed to flee from the spot—(KNO)
