Jammu, Oct 14 : Crime Branch Jammu on Wednesday claimed to have booked state land sellers and fraudsters in Jammu division of the Union Territory.

“Crime Branch Jammu registers a formal criminal case against accused-(1) Mohd Sharif Sartaj, son of Shams-ul-Din of E-P-62 Peer Mitha Jammu (2) Ishwar Dass, son of Nar Singh of Gali Devi Dewana Peer Mitha, Jammu (3) Kuldeep Mahajan and Rakesh Kumar Mahajan both sons of Duni Chand of F-95 Dhakki Sarajan Jammu for conspiring and forging Revenue record of 4 Kanals and 7 Marlas State land located at Rakh Bahu, Tehsil Jammu and thereby cheating /duping the complainant, after entering into an “agreement to sell”, of his hard earned money to the tune of Rs. 18.00 lacs by fraudulent means thus, cheating complainant by unlawful means,” CB said in a statement.

It added that a written complaint was lodged by Raj Daluja, son of Late Daswandi Ram of 192/1 Trikuta Nagar Jammu, wherein he alleged that the above accused approached him and claimed that a plot of land measuring 4 Kanals and 7 Marlas under khasra number 88 Min situated at Rakh Bahu Tehsil Jammu is owned and in their possession under cultivation. Further they induced the complainant that they are fully competent to sell/transfer the land for development of their business.

“Deal for the said piece of land was finalized for consideration of Rs. 68.00 lacs and the complaint paid Rs. 4.00 lacs as advance money and later on Rs. 14.00 lacs more was paid to the accused through cheques. The complainant further alleged that an agreement to sell was executed which was duly registered. Thereafter, they started delays on one pretext or other and the fact of cheating was exposed soon,” the statement added.

“On receipt of this complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated and during the course of enquiry it has prima facie been established that the piece of land under contention is State land and the accused persons conspired & committed forgery and cheated the complainant dishonestly and duped him of his hard earned money to the tune of Rs. 18.00 lacs by fraudulent means thereby causing wrongful loss to complainant and gain by unlawful means to themselves,” it added.

Accordingly, the statement added that a formal case is registered in Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu against the above mentioned accused persons under the relevant sections of law and the investigation of the case is underway—(KNO)
