CEC Kargil lays foundation stone of Kargil Girls’ Hostel at Sidhra

KARGIL OCTOBER 01, 2020: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today laid the foundation stone of Kargil Girls’ Hostel at Sidhra Jammu.

The project approved under the District Plan at a cost of Rs 10 crores is targeted to be completed by ending June 2021 and will provide accommodation facilities to more than 170 girls’ students.

The hostel spread over an area of 5 canals will have besides accommodation facilities like reading room, dining hall, canteen, badminton court and other required facilities.

Speaking on the occasion the CEC said that with the establishment of the hostel in Jammu, the accommodation facilities to girl students of the district studying in Jammu will be addressed to some extent.

CEC Khan said that the LAHDC Kargil is committed to provide satisfactory residential facilities to Kargili students and travellers in the cities of Srinagar, Jammu and Delhi and concrete measures are being taken to achieve this goal. He said that the repairing and renovation works of Boys Hostel Kargil is presently underway in full swing while ambulance has also been sanctioned for the hostel which is being procured soon.

While stressing students to be serious and conscious towards their studies, CEC Khan exhorted upon them to strive for enhancing their capabilities in line with the needs of the present competitive world.

Khan also made particular mention of the 3 KAS qualifiers from the district who have cracked the prestigious exams recently and advised students to follow their footsteps to achieve success in life.

Meanwhile, representative of Students’ Union Jammu Shahida Akhtar on behalf of the girl students studying in Jammu expressed gratitude to the CEC kargil for having sanctioned the construction of the hostel in Jammu as committed by him during the Annual Function of the students union during the winter season.

President Boys Hostel Jammu Muhammad Hassnain also thanked the CEC for the renovation and repair works and sanctioning of an ambulance for the hostel. He also projected demand for establishment of a library in the hostel to which the CEC assured of according due consideration.

Warden Boys Hostel Jammu Jehangir Ahmad, AEE PWD Kargil Mansoor Ahmad, members of the All Kargil Students Union Kargil besides other concerned officials and students were present on the occasion.
