EC Chandan takes stock of developmental works in Shargole

KARGIL SEPTEMBER 20, 2020: Executive Councilor Agriculture and Health Muhammad Ali Chandan who is also the Councillor of Shargole Constituency of LAHDC, Kargil on Saturday took stock of the pace of progress on several developmental works underway in different sectors in Shargole area.

Chairperson, Block Development Council Shargole, Executive Engineers of R&B Division II, I&FC and PHE Division Kargil, Senior Scientist Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil, Block Development Officer Shargole and other concerned officers accompanied the EC during the tour.

The EC inspected the construction works of Multipurpose Indoor Stadium Shargole which is being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 414 lacs where he was informed by the officers concerned that the project will be completed during the current financial year.

EC Chandan along with the officers also visited village Tingdoo and met various public delegations to know about their developmental needs, grievances and demands.

The villagers through a memorandum put forth demands which mainly included the augmentation of water supply schemes, construction and renovation of khuls, construction of link roads and protection walls along the roads.

The EC gave a patient hearing to all demands projected by the villagers and assured them of resolution of each demand in an appropriate manner.

Responding to the demands of the locals, the EC constituted three teams of AEEs and JEs of each department along with representatives of villagers to inspect the works and to submit detailed reports on the progress of these works.

EC Chandan along with the officers concerned also inspected the black topping works in the area which is under progress at an estimated cost of Rs 325 lacs. The EC was informed on the occasion that a total length of 7 kilometres and about 6 kilometres stretch of the road has been completed and the remaining work will be completed within a week’s time.

The EC directed the Executive Engineer R&B II to construct necessary protection walls at certain locations adjacent to the road. While inspecting the black topping work, the EC appreciated the work done by the concerned contractor.

The EC along with the Block Development Officer and BDC Chairperson Shargole inspected the link road from Farka to Grong Shargole and issued on spot directions to BDO Shargole to ensure preparation of DPR for widening of the road at all required locations.

Meanwhile, the youths of Darket village met the EC and put forth certain demands which included the construction of link road and playground in the area, installation of hand pump at Bithur Thang and other related demands.

Responding to the demands the EC informed the youths that funds for construction of a playground in the area has already been released under CDF. He assured them that all other issues will be taken up with the concerned departments for early redressal.

Earlier, on the directions of the EC, the Senior Scientist KVK, Kargil enlightened the locals about the adoption of latest technologies for better agricultural yield and also advised them to give special attention to local dishes with local techniques.

The Senior Scientist also gave suggestions to the villagers about water harvesting techniques to ensure its judicious use and assured them that he will visit them in future at the time of cultivation to extend necessary guidance regarding various techniques towards improved farming.
