Kargil, Sept 19: The NSS wing of Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil today conducted a cleanliness drive under Swacchta hi Sewa campaign in Poyen village to promote the importance of cleanliness and community hygiene.
Led by Prof. Tsewang Gailtsen, Program Officer of NSS at GDC Kargil, the initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation, with around 15 volunteers from the college taking part in the drive. The event received additional support from Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Kargil, with Bashir, a representative from NYK, also joining the drive.
Speaking about the drive, Prof. Gailtsen emphasized the critical role of cleanliness in public health and how community efforts like these foster a sense of responsibility towards maintaining a cleaner environment. The volunteers worked collectively to clean the area and streams of the village.
The campaign reflected the NSS’s commitment to social responsibility and the active involvement of youth in Swacchta hi Sewa initiative, aligning with the national vision for a cleaner and healthier India.
