Leh, Sept 19: Advisor Ladakh Dr Pawan Kotwal on Thursday emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to the recruitment guidelines to ensure a transparent selection process as he chaired a crucial meeting to discuss developments made under the Samagra Shiksha scheme and address key issues.

Director, School Education Department, Tsering Paldan, through a presentation, highlighted Samagra Shiksha, an integrated scheme under the School Education Department that has merged three significant initiatives: the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), and Teacher Education (TE).

Samagra Shiksha’s primary objective is to provide quality education to all children in an equitable and inclusive learning environment.

To efficiently implement this scheme in the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Yountan Society has been registered as a single implementing agency.

The society is tasked with engaging qualified, eligible, and reputable organizations or service providers to facilitate and support the recruitment and selection process for various posts under the Samagra Shiksha scheme.

During the meeting, several key issues were discussed, particularly regarding the recruitment of additional contractual manpower, an official spokesperson said.

Discussions were held on the relaxation of existing hiring criteria particularly in terms of experience, the need for additional employees, and the retention of the current workforce so that envisioned goals of the scheme can be realised efficiently.

Additionally, the Advisor emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to the recruitment guidelines to ensure a transparent selection process.

A follow-up meeting will be held to further deliberate on these issues and ensure the smooth implementation of the Samagra Shiksha scheme in Ladakh.

The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary, School Education, Sanjeev Khirwar; Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education/ Technical Education; Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve; Deputy Commissioner Kargil Srikant Balasaheb Suse; Director Finance, Dr Safdar Ali; Director School Education Department Tsering Paldan, and other concerned officials.

The officials stationed outside attended the meeting virtually, the spokesperson added.
