Leh, Sept 15: In a significant step towards preserving Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage, the ceremonial foundation stone for the Ven. Lama Lobzang Memorial Park was laid today in Leh.

The event was graced by several prominent leaders, including Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Hon’ble Executive Councillor Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, and DC/CEO, LAHDC, Santosh Sukhadeve. Joining them were Hon’ble Councillor Phunchok Stanzin Tsepag, Former MP Thupstan Chhewang, President of Ashoka Mission, and President of Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Chering Dorjey Lakrook.

The ceremony began with a solemn prayer led by venerable monks, setting a tone of reverence and spirituality. The gathering underscored the significance of the memorial park, which aims to honor the legacy of Ven. Lama Lobzang, a revered spiritual leader. The park will serve not only as a place of reflection but also as a community hub for gatherings, fostering a sense of unity among the people of Leh.

The event also saw the participation of senior officials, including SE PWD Dorjey Gyatso, Xen R&B, and a team of doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), who were present for a medical camp. Local leader Tashi Motup and his family (Kawoo) were also present, symbolizing the community’s involvement in the project.

The development of the Ven. Lama Lobzang Memorial Park is seen as a vital step in preserving the spiritual and cultural heritage of the region. Local leaders emphasized the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders in bringing this project to fruition. The park is expected to contribute significantly to the cultural and social landscape of Leh, offering a space for both reflection and celebration of Ladakh’s traditions.

Adv. Tashi Gyalson expressed his gratitude to all participants and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering cultural preservation and communal harmony. He noted that the park would serve as a lasting tribute to Ven. Lama Lobzang’s teachings and contributions to the region.

As work on the memorial park begins, the project promises to be a focal point for both locals and visitors, ensuring that the legacy of Ven. Lama Lobzang endures for generations to come.
