Leh, Sept 15: The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), is set to host the HIM Tech Symposium 2024 at the Rinchen Auditorium and Grounds in Leh on September 20 and 21. This highly anticipated event will focus on the latest technological advancements and innovations in defence and military applications.
The symposium, themed “Harnessing Defence Technology for High Altitude Areas,” will address the unique challenges faced in the border regions of Ladakh, including Siachen Glacier, Kargil, and Dras. These high-altitude areas present significant obstacles such as low oxygen levels, extreme cold, and disrupted road connectivity, all of which affect both personnel and equipment.
Over 75 Indian defence manufacturers have registered to participate, showcasing their latest products and technologies. The registrations are still ongoing, with firms traveling from across India to present their innovations. Technical experts and marketing teams will accompany the products to highlight their features and benefits.
The symposium will feature technology showcases, including demonstrations of advanced solutions in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and unmanned systems. Attendees can look forward to exploring stalls and pavilions featuring state-of-the-art equipment and technologies from various defence and tech companies.
In addition to the exhibits, the event will host expert and panel discussions with prominent figures in defence technology, military strategy, and industry leaders. These sessions are designed to offer hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge about the technologies and their applications in the defence sector.
Senior military and civilian dignitaries are expected to attend, and the symposium will open to the community members of Ladakh from 2 p.m. on September 21. College and school students, academia, civil society members, and entrepreneurs are encouraged to witness the event and engage with the latest advancements.
The HIM Tech Symposium 2024 is anticipated to boost tourism and the local economy in Leh while exposing the Ladakh community to the defence industry’s innovations. It also presents an opportunity for the industry to explore Leh as a viable business destination. Expectations are high as the symposium promises to be a landmark event in showcasing cutting-edge defence technology and fostering valuable business relationships.
