Leh, Sept 15: The Department of Motor Garages (DMG), Leh, has successfully wrapped up a two-day, hands-on training program aimed at enhancing the skills and awareness of the district’s drivers and mechanics. The comprehensive workshop focused on critical practical and legal aspects, with particular attention to mechanical wheel-changing techniques and legal issues related to road accidents.
The training, designed to promote road safety and equip participants with necessary on-the-job skills, included detailed instructions on how to safely change vehicle wheels. These sessions were conducted by a dedicated trainer with expertise in automotive mechanics, ensuring that participants received clear, step-by-step guidance.
In a significant addition, specialists from the insurance sector were also brought in to educate the trainees on insurance provisions, legal rules surrounding accidental exigencies, and protocols that drivers and mechanics must follow in the event of a road accident. This segment aimed to raise awareness about the critical legal responsibilities individuals have after a traffic incident, thereby helping to minimize confusion and risk in emergency situations.
The program also featured a brief but essential fire safety training session. Officials from the Fire Department guided participants on how to manage fire emergencies, further enhancing their readiness to handle crisis situations both on the road and in their workplaces.
The DMG stated that the initiative is part of a broader commitment to foster a safer and more informed driving environment in the district. By equipping drivers and mechanics with key practical skills and legal knowledge, the department aims to ensure that they are well-prepared to handle both routine operations and unexpected emergencies effectively.
