The drug busts continued with the arrest of Abdul Gaffer, a resident of Parsa Champaran, Bihar, on September 10. Gaffer was caught with 1.26 grams of Ganja during a routine patrol. FIR No. 175/2024 under the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Leh.

In addition to the drug-related arrests, Leh police also targeted illegal liquor trade. On September 10, Pemba Sherpa, a resident of Tata Pani, Nepal, currently residing in Stakna, was found with 51 bottles of rum and 24 cans of Godfather Beer during an operation by Police Post Choglamsar. He was arrested, and FIR No. 176/2024 under the Excise Act was registered.

The following day, on September 11, another raid in Choglamsar led to the arrest of Pema Sherpani, a Nepali woman from Sindhupalchok, Nepal, for possession of 19 bottles of rum and 19 cans of beer. FIR No. 179/2024 under the Excise Act was registered against her.

The police’s crackdown also extended to the Kharu region, where Upender Shai, a Nepali resident from Chamunda village, Dailekh District, was arrested with 32 cans of beer and 5 bottles of rum. An FIR (No. 178/2024) was registered under the Excise Act, and the illicit liquor was confiscated.
