Leh, Sept 10: A variety of activities providing a deep dive into the local heritage will remain in focus at the upcoming Ladakh Festival 2024, informed Chairman and CEC of LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson as he convened a meeting to review the preparations for the festival, here.
The Ladakh Festival is set to commence on September 21, 2024, and run through September 30, 2024. This vibrant festival promises to be a grand celebration of Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.
The festival will officially kick off on September 21 with an inaugural ceremony held at the Polo Ground in Leh. The day will begin with a Cultural Walk from Karzoo to the Polo Ground, setting the stage for a series of exciting events.
The CEC has directed that the Ladakh Festival 2024 be celebrated with grandeur and efficiency as he reviewed the roles and responsibilities of the various departments and committees involved, and discussed the scheduled itinerary of events for the festival, an official spokesperson said.
Throughout the festival, attendees can look forward to a variety of activities including traditional archery and horse polo competitions. Cultural performances from different regions of Ladakh will be held daily, providing a deep dive into the local heritage. In addition, the festival will feature an archival exhibition, a heritage walk from Leh Palace to Chokhang Vihara, and displays of Chams and Thagka.
The festival will be extensively promoted through social media campaigns, hoardings, and local media such as Red FM. The Ladakh University students will also play a role in welcoming guests at the airport, ensuring a warm reception for all attendees. Temporary branded gates will be installed at key locations including the Airport Road, Polo Ground, and Eco Park to enhance visibility and engagement.
A special attraction at the festival will be the TRIFED stall at Eco Park, dedicated to showcasing Ladakhi arts and crafts. Content creation will be supported by professional photographers and videographers, along with local influencers who will help promote the festival through various platforms.
In closing the meeting, the CEC expressed hope that the Ladakh Festival would be a resounding success.
