Leh, Sept 11: Asserting that essential infrastructure, stable power supply and improved connectivity are the top priorities of the UT Administration led by him, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) on Wednesday assured the people of Nyoma sub-division the comprehensive development of region.

The LG visited Nyoma – a remote and strategically important region in the Union Territory, where he was accorded a warm welcome by Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Councillor Nyoma,  Eshey Spalzang; Councillor Rong, Thinles Norboo and the local community of Nyoma sub-division.

Addressing the gathering, the LG congratulated the people of the Changthang area on the recent conferment of district status. He emphasised that the move was crucial for development and well-being of remote areas like Nyoma.

He assured the residents that the district status would pave the way for improved infrastructure, including schools, hospitals and provide employment opportunities for the youth.

The LG expressed his happiness over the large number of women in the audience. He underscored the importance of women’s empowerment and announced the upcoming launch of the ‘Lakpati Didi scheme in Ladakh.

He expressed his keen interest in piloting this scheme in the Nyoma sub-division to empower women and contribute to the local economy.

In recognition of the vital role played by the nomadic community in the region, the LG highlighted the UT Administration’s efforts to support the Pashmina goat industry in Ladakh.

He highlighted the provision of pashmina kid pens and the kid pen facilities, which have reduced the mortality rate of Pashmina goat kids. He encouraged the youth to embrace this sector as a means of self-sufficiency and independence.

The LG also assured the people of Nyoma sub-division that developing essential infrastructure, including power supply and improved connectivity are the top priorities of the UT Administration.

Nambadar Nyoma and representatives of Nyoma sub-division submitted a memorandum regarding the upgradation of the Primary Health Centre at Nyoma to Sub-District Hospital, the construction of a multipurpose hall with amphitheatre and appointment of the Block Development Officer (BDO) and Tehsildar at Nyoma Sub-Division for the smooth functioning of the Administration.

Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Councillor Nyoma, Eshey Spalzang; Councillor Rong, Thinles Norboo; SDM Nyoma, Kacho Asgar Ali; President LBA Nyoma Wing, Thinles Norboo; Ex-President LBA Nyoma Wing, Phunchok Sonam and Nambardars of the sub-division were present during the event.
