Leh, Sept 10: An anguished Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) has passed strict instructions to Social Welfare Department asking it to ensure that no false data is uploaded on the Poshan Tracker, as he expressed his shock upon learning that the children at the Anganwadi Centres had not been fed by Anganwadi Workers.
This unfolded as a delegation comprising members of Anganwadi Workers Association Leh led by its President, Tsering Dolker, called on Mishra, in the presence of his Advisor Dr Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Padma Angmo and Director, Finance, Dr Safdar Ali.
At the outset, Dolkar informed the LG that Anganwadi Workers are the frontline community health workers operating at the grass root level in the country. She also informed the LG that the Anganwadi Workers are paid an honorarium of Rs 5800 per month while Anganwadi Helpers get a monthly honorarium of Rs 2900. She requested the LG to increase the honorarium of Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) for the benefit of all the 2346 AWWs.
The LG inquired if the children at the Anganwadi Centres had been fed on date, an official spokesperson informed on Tuesday.
To that the surprising answer was that the Anganwadi Workers had not fed the children coming to the centre.
The LG then asked Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Padma Angmo to ensure that no false data is uploaded on the Poshan Tracker.
He also directed for convening a committee to look into the demand of the Anganwadi Workers in the context of the same in J&K as also that the fact that in 2022 their honorarium had been doubled.
Meanwhile, a number of delegations called upon Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat and shared with him their issues and problems.
Former Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Stanzin Wangyal Gara and Ven Sangdup from Padum Monastery called on LG on Tuesday and expressed their gratitude for the declaration of Zanskar as a district. They also requested for sanctioning funds to construct a winter-friendly multi-purpose community hall at Pipiting in Zanskar.
The LG asked Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, to look into the matter on a priority basis.
A delegation comprising members of Ex-Servicemen Union Zanskar led by its President, Tsering Dorjey, called on the LG. The delegation requested the LG’s intervention in a land dispute at Kojothang, Zanskar about the ex-servicemen there. The delegation informed the LG that the land reserved for ex-servicemen in 1985 had been infringed upon by individuals and requested the LG to intervene in the allotment of the said land to the Ex-Servicemen Union Zanskar, for which they had approached the district court in 2019 without any success. They also expressed their gratitude to the LG for declaring Zanskar as a separate district.
The LG asked Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, to examine similar cases about the allotment of land to ex-servicemen groups, war heroes and war widows. He informed the delegation that any decision taken shall be strictly per the law’s provisions.
A delegation comprising members of All India Power Engineers’ Federation (AIPEF) led by Chairman, AIPEF, Ex Shailender Dubey, called met the LG.
The delegation sought the LG’s intervention in matters about the promotion of the engineers to fill the vacant posts of Junior Engineers and to initiate promotions to fill the vacancies of Chief Engineer, AEE and AE. The delegation also discussed their concerns about the conversion of LPDD into a corporation.
The LG stated that the matter shall be pursued with the counterpart of UT J&K for an immediate solution. He further directed the concerned official to prepare a detailed report of all government departments on issues of promotions on a priority basis.
Regarding their requests for officiating Assured Career Progression (ACP) of engineers in Ladakh Power Development Department (LPDD), the LG stated that the case would be dealt with as per the rules. He also assured that the conversion of PDD into a corporation will not affect the services and salaries of the employees.
Also on Monday, a delegation of MBBS aspirants from Leh led by former CEC and Chairman of LAHDC Leh, Gyal P Wangyal called on the LG.
Jigmet Yangskit, one of the MBBS aspirants, informed the LG about the corrigendum made in the Ladakh Central Pool Medical Seats (Selection of Candidates and Allotment of Colleges) Guidelines 2021 as per which the total number of medical seats for MBBS and BDS in medical colleges of the country were clubbed between the two districts based on merit. She also informed that earlier the medical seats for MBBS and BDS were separate for Leh and Kargil. She requested the LG for the revision of the corrigendum to a rotation-based distribution for both districts so that both districts get an equitable share of seats in MBBS and BDS.
The LG assured the MBBS aspirants to examine the matter and check the logic behind the corrigendum to see what appropriate/logical steps can be taken in this regard.
