Leh, Sept 11: In a pivotal meeting held at SNM Hospital’s conference hall on Tuesday, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) Adv Tashi Gyalson underscored the urgent need for on-ground measures to tackle the pressing issues facing the hospital. The meeting, chaired by Gyalson, brought together a cadre of high-profile officials, including Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of LAHDC Leh Santosh Sukhadeve, Senior Superintendent of Police Leh Shruti Arora, Chief Planning Officer Leh Tsewang Gyalson, and Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department Dorjey Gyatso, among others.

The gathering was convened to address critical concerns raised by Dr. Rinchen Chosdol, the Medical Superintendent of SNM Hospital. Dr. Chosdol’s comprehensive briefing highlighted several key challenges, including severe infrastructure deficiencies, significant manpower shortages, the necessity for enhanced security, and various concerns voiced by the medical staff and doctors.

Dr. Chosdol emphasized the hospital’s urgent requirements for infrastructural upgrades, such as the construction of a Skill-lab auditorium, a dedicated mental health ward, and new quarters for doctors and staff. Additionally, there is a pressing need for an Advanced Medical Training (AMT) school to bolster the hospital’s medical training capabilities.

CEC Gyalson, in his address, meticulously reviewed the meeting’s agenda and called for a focused approach to implementing the discussed solutions. He stressed the importance of coordinating with all stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of the proposed development projects. Gyalson also highlighted the need for regular follow-up meetings with Block Level Medical Officers (BMOs) and other relevant officials to monitor progress and address any emerging issues promptly.

The meeting concluded with a consensus on the need for immediate action and enhanced collaboration among various departments to address the hospital’s critical challenges. The collective commitment of the officials present aims to improve the overall functioning of SNM Hospital and better serve the healthcare needs of the Leh region.
