Leh, Sept 10: The Medical Department of Ladakh successfully carried out the second round of National Deworming Day (NDD) today, administering deworming medication to children across the region. The initiative was part of a nationwide effort, adhering to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s guidelines, with a fixed-day approach implemented across all schools and Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) in Ladakh.
Health workers visited educational institutions and AWCs throughout the region, ensuring children received the necessary treatment to protect them from parasitic worm infections. These infections, if left untreated, can hamper growth and development, making the deworming program a critical part of the region’s public health efforts.
The Health Department of Ladakh, which spearheaded the campaign, underscored the importance of preventing worm-related illnesses to improve children’s health and overall nutritional outcomes. A spokesperson for the department reiterated the commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of every child in the region, recognizing the role such initiatives play in ensuring long-term development.
By prioritizing deworming and other health programs, Ladakh continues to advance its efforts to enhance public health and secure a healthier future for its youngest citizens.
