Leh, Sept 08: The Hon’ble Chairman/CEC of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, today laid the foundation stone for a new Culture Centre and Dharmasala at the esteemed Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. The ceremony marks a significant milestone for this highly anticipated project.
The event was attended by an esteemed gathering of dignitaries, including Padma Shri Thiksey Rinpoche, a revered figure celebrated for his contributions to Tibetan Buddhism and cultural preservation, and H.E. Zeekyab Rinpoche, the Abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. Other notable figures included Tashilungpo khanpo Zikgya Rinpoche, Kilkhang Rinpoche, Ngagchen Zotpa Rinpoche, ADDC Sonam Nurboo, and Hon’ble Councillor Phyang, Tundup Nurbu.
CEC Tashi Gyalson expressed enthusiasm about the commencement of construction, highlighting the project’s importance in supporting the cultural and spiritual needs of the local community. “This new facility will not only serve as a vital hub for cultural and spiritual activities but also foster deeper engagement with our rich traditions,” Gyalson remarked.
The Culture Centre and Dharmasala will be funded under the District Capex Budget, underscoring the LAHDC’s ongoing commitment to enhancing cultural infrastructure and supporting local institutions. This development is expected to greatly benefit the region by providing a dedicated space for cultural preservation and spiritual enrichment, solidifying Leh’s status as a center of cultural significance.
