Leh, Sept 06: In a significant boost to law enforcement capabilities, Ladakh’s police force has completed an intensive three-day training program focused on advanced digital systems for managing foreign national data. The program, held from August 20th to 22nd at the District Police Lines in Leh, was designed to enhance the proficiency of police officers in handling immigration, visa, and foreigner registration applications using the latest IVFRT (Immigration, Visa, and Foreigner Registration & Tracking) systems.
The training, led by Tahir Mahajan, Scientist E and State IVFRT Coordinator for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, brought together police officials from various divisions including the Police Headquarters Ladakh, District Police Office Leh, District Police Office Kargil, and the Foreigner Registration Office-TR (Tibetan Refugee) Leh.
Key modules covered during the sessions included the District Police Module (DPM), the eFRRO (Foreigner Registration System), Form-C, Look Out Circular (LOC), and the Foreigner Identification Portal (FIP). These advanced digital tools are set to revolutionize the way foreigner-related data is managed across Ladakh.
The DPM module provides a comprehensive overview of foreigner information by integrating immigration records, visa details, and registration data. It also includes data from C-Forms submitted by hotels and accommodations, and S-Forms tracking the progress of foreign students. This system empowers officers to oversee the movement and status of foreigners within their jurisdiction, detect non-reporting or overstaying individuals, and verify details using biometric data.
The eFRRO system is pivotal in delivering essential visa and registration services, including the issuance of exit permits. Form-C is instrumental in capturing information about foreigners residing in hotels and guest houses, thereby facilitating their movement tracking. The LOC system allows for the online management of lookout notices, ensuring timely interception of individuals when necessary. Meanwhile, the FIP focuses on demographic and biometric data collection of illegal migrants to assist in nationality verification and deportation processes.
The training sessions featured in-depth explanations and live demonstrations of these applications by Tahir Mahajan. Police officials participated actively in interactive discussions, asking questions and sharing insights, which enriched the learning experience.
Sonam Angchuk, Deputy Superintendent of Police Leh, who presided over the sessions, lauded the initiative and emphasized the significance of these digital tools in enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement in Ladakh. He expressed his gratitude to the National Informatics Centre (NIC) for their support in organizing this essential training.
Participants were notably enthusiastic about the knowledge gained, recognizing how these new tools will streamline their operations and improve their capacity to monitor and manage foreign nationals more effectively.
This development marks a pivotal step in modernizing law enforcement practices in Ladakh, ensuring that the region remains adept at handling the complexities of foreign national management with increased efficiency and precision.
