Kargil, Sept 06: In a significant effort to enhance disaster readiness, the 13th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from Ludhiana, in collaboration with GMD College Zanskar, organized a thorough mock exercise today. The event, held in Kargil, was designed to provide hands-on training and simulations for a variety of emergency scenarios, including earthquake response, fire extinguishing, CPR training, and disaster rescue operations.

The exercise saw participation from a diverse group, including Assistant Commandant Javed Iqbal of the 13th Battalion NDRF, senior officers from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Ludhiana, Tehsildar Zanskar, SHO Zanskar, as well as faculty members and students from GMDC Zanskar and Higher Secondary School Padum.

During the event, Assistant Commandant Iqbal underscored the crucial role of such preparedness drills, highlighting how they contribute to raising public awareness about disaster management and first aid. He praised the collaborative efforts of NDRF, SDRF, and Civil Defence in mobilizing the community and supporting civil authorities during emergencies.

The exercise featured live demonstrations of various rescue operations, showcasing the effective use of disaster management equipment. These practical demonstrations, conducted by highly trained NDRF instructors, aimed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed for effective disaster response.

The mock exercise proved to be an invaluable opportunity for participants to engage in realistic scenarios and develop their capabilities in managing and responding to emergencies, ensuring a more prepared and resilient community.
