Kargil, Sept 04: In a groundbreaking initiative, the Income Tax Department organized its first-ever Taxpayer Outreach and Education Programme in Kargil, Ladakh, on September 4, 2024. This historic event aimed to raise awareness about the exemption provisions of the Income Tax Act, specifically benefiting Scheduled Tribes, trusts, societies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), charitable hospitals, and educational institutions in the region.
The seminar, which saw enthusiastic participation from local trusts, NGOs, and representatives of charitable hospitals and educational institutions, was lauded as a significant step toward enhancing financial literacy among charitable organizations in Kargil.
Under the leadership of Smt. Jaishree Sharma, Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), key officials including Sh. Manav Bansal, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions Range-1), Sh. Anirudh, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions, Circle-1), Chandigarh, and Sh. Vikas Sharma, Income Tax Officer (Exemptions), Jammu Ward, addressed the gathering.
During the interactive session, the speakers provided detailed insights into the various tax exemptions available under the Income Tax Act of 1961 for trusts, societies, and NGOs.
