Kargil, Sept 04: An inter-school competition featuring various categories, including speech, essay writing, drawing, storytelling, spelling, and handwriting, was successfully held today at Government Middle School Goma Minjee. The event, which drew participation from all government schools within the Baroo-Minjee Constituency, was organized in collaboration with the Councillor of the Baroo-Minjee Constituency.

The event was attended by prominent figures such as Zakir Hussain, Executive Councillor for Education of the LAHDC Kargil; S.D. Namgial, Chief Education Officer Kargil; Adv. Khadim Hussain, Councillor of the Baroo-Minjee Constituency; Abdul Qayoom, Principal of DIET; Former Councillor Shiekh Minjee, and various members of the Village Education Committee (VEC) and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI). A large number of staff and students from the participating schools were also present.

In his address, Executive Councillor Zakir Hussain lauded the Councillor for organizing the event, which provided a crucial platform for students to showcase their talents. He emphasized the need for similar competitions across various constituencies, stating that these events are vital for exploring and nurturing student potential. He also highlighted the efforts of the LAHDC Kargil, under the chairmanship of the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), to provide quality education to students. As a testament to his commitment to education, Hussain shared that he has adopted four schools in his constituency and expressed his admiration for the confidence displayed by the students.

Hussain also extended his gratitude to the Village Education Committee and the local community for their support, assuring them of the council’s continued backing for such initiatives.

Chief Education Officer S.D. Namgial opened his speech with the quote, “Child is the father of man,” reflecting on how much he had learned from the event. He underscored the importance of organizing similar programs in other schools to encourage broader student participation.

Councillor Adv. Khadim Hussain expressed his gratitude to the middle and high school staff within his constituency for their cooperation in making the event a success. He voiced his hopes of organizing similar events in the future to inspire students.

Principal DIET Abdul Qayoom also addressed the gathering, urging students to actively participate in such programs to develop their skills further.

Former Councillor Shiekh Minjee presented a memorandum of demands, which included the reconstruction of the old school building, ground leveling, fencing, and the installation of a submersible pump. In response, Executive Councillor Zakir Hussain assured that these demands would be addressed promptly.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to students who excelled in the various competition categories, recognizing their talent and hard work. The successful event not only provided a platform for showcasing student talent but also reinforced the community’s commitment to improving educational opportunities in the region.
